General

Where can I park my car when I visit Bamboo Dental?

We have our own dedicated car park which can only be used by visitors to the practice. You will see dedicated Bamboo Dental Parking signs.

Are you open at weekends?

Bamboo Dental is open on Saturdays and on evenings for routine appointments and we’ll do our very best to see you as soon as we can.

What treatments are available at Bamboo Dental?

Bamboo Dental offers a range of cosmetic dental solutions at affordable prices such as teeth straightening, porcelain and composite veneers, composite bonding and teeth whitening.

Can I visit Bamboo Dental for cosmetic procedures without being a regular patient at your practice and will this affect the cost?

We’re happy to treat you for one-off cosmetic procedures or for preventable dentistry treatment and our dentists can clearly explain all prices.

I’m a busy person and struggle to find the time for regular dental check-ups. Why is this so important?

Prevention is a lot better than cure! It’s much easier to keep your teeth clean and healthy than have to fix decayed teeth, which can lead to gum disease. Damage to your teeth and gums can also affect your confidence and self-esteem so regular dental check-ups will keep you happy and smiling.

Dental Care

How should I be looking after my teeth and gums?

The only way to keep your teeth and gums squeaky clean is through regular brushing and flossing and visiting your dentist every six months. We also recommend that you see the hygienist every three months so that they can clean those hard to reach areas and give you advice on how to brush and floss properly.

How often should I be brushing my teeth?

You should be brushing your teeth at least twice a day, every day – or more if your dentist advises you to. It’s important to use a toothbrush that’s suitable for your teeth (your hygienist can help with this) as incorrect or overly abrasive brushing can damage your tooth enamel, leading to tooth sensitivity and other dental problems.

My gums are beginning to bleed – should this be a concern or is it something that is likely to fix itself over time?

Swollen, inflamed or bleeding gums are a sign of gum disease and could get worse if you don’t visit your dentist. If the disease spreads it can lead to tooth loss so if you see blood, please contact your dentist right away.

Does Bamboo Dental offer teeth whitening treatments?

Yes, we do offer teeth whitening at Bamboo. We have three options, take home, in-chair laser and the ultimate Enlighten treatment. If you are interested, we would need to see you for a consultation to assess that you are dentally fit before providing you with the treatment.

I’m getting migraines and jaw pain – can you offer any solutions to teeth grinding and clenching issues?

Migraines, tension headaches and jaw pain can be caused by teeth clenching and grinding and this can have a noticeable impact on your dental health as well. Thankfully Bamboo Dental can offer devices that can be comfortably fitted into your mouth at night to help minimise the damage of teeth grinding and clenching while you sleep. They also provide a noticeable improvement to the pain associated with migraine and tension headaches.

Braces

I want to have braces fitted, but I’m worried about ugly wires and having a mouthful of metal! Can you offer me an alternative?

Train tracks are thankfully a thing of the past and it’s easier than ever to find subtle but effective ways to get the smile you’ve always wanted. Bamboo Dental can offer you a range of cost-effective orthodontic treatments which include Invisalign clear aligners and Six Month Smiles. If you want our dentists to explain how we can help you get a straighter smile, give us a call on 029 2056 9769 to arrange a free* consultation.

How long do I have to wear braces for?

Contrary to traditional braces, our Six Month Smiles braces treatment is known for the speed at which it can straighten patients' teeth. Our patients usually get their new straight smile in just 6 months time. Sometimes less and sometimes a little more, depending on each individual.

Dental Emergencies

What if I have a dental emergency situation in Cardiff? How can Bamboo Dental help?

If you need to see a dentist urgently, we’re here to help. We offer same-day emergency dental treatment to registered and non-registered patients – even if you’re just visiting Cardiff. We’ll do our best to see you as soon as possible and provide the necessary treatment to get you out of pain so you don’t have wait to see your dentist or spend hours in A&E.

My wisdom teeth are causing me a lot of pain; is this classed as a dental emergency?

If you’re in a lot of discomfort or pain we consider it an emergency so give us a call and we’ll see you as soon as we can.

What if I sustain a dental injury at work or when playing sports?

If you’ve chipped or fractured a tooth, you’ll need urgent attention to see how we can fix it. Call us to make an emergency appointment and we’ll see you as soon as possible.

Dental Hygienist

Why is it so important to have regular check-ups with the hygienist?

Your hygienist can offer advice on keeping your teeth and gums clean and healthy to prevent you from developing gum disease, plus they can brighten up your smile with a scale and polish. Ideally you should visit your hygienist every three months so that they can spot any problems in between your trips to the dentist.

Do you offer a traditional scale and polish treatment?

Unfortunately, we are unable to take on new patients solely for scale and polish treatments; however, please do get in touch and we can recommend a couple of practices that may be able to help you.

What else can you do to help protect my teeth?

Our dentists can prescribe a fluoride varnish which is applied to your teeth to form a protective barrier which will fight against cavities and protect the enamel on your teeth.

Cosmetic Dentistry

How can I improve the appearance of my smile through cosmetic dentistry?

Bamboo Dental has many options to give you a better-looking smile. These range from traditional orthodontic procedures, right through to dental veneers.

What sort of dental veneers can I choose from at Bamboo Dental?

We can offer you E-Max veneers which are high quality and ultra-thin pieces of porcelain. We also offer composite veneers. To find out more, visit our veneers page or call us to chat to one of our team.

I get very nervous about visiting the dentist. Can you do anything to put me at ease?

At Bamboo Dental, we like to think we have a good bedside manner. Our friendly dentists will talk you through your procedure and do their best to make you feel comfortable – we can even hold your hand if you like. We also offer a range of pain relief options, including oral sedation, which can relax you if you are very anxious about your treatment.

If I experience pain or discomfort after a procedure, should I contact Bamboo Dental?

It’s important that you tell us immediately if you feel any pain or discomfort following treatment with us so that we can make you feel comfortable again.

Do you have natural looking veneers?

Yes, our Emax veneers are hand painted by the lab so the options are endless. You will be shown a range of shades from which you can choose from - from natural to whiter than white.

Which is better... fixed braces or removable aligners?

Sometimes only one is suitable for patients. For most people, it really is a personal preference. Some prefer having them fixed and forgetting about them while they do their magic whereas others prefer to have the option of removing the aligners for special occasions. In the end, they will both do the same and give you a perfect straight smile.
