Its almost Christmas and with lots of us travelling to visit relatives and friends it can be a stressful and chaotic time. Here are some tips on how to stay healthy whilst travelling this Christmas.
Eat a healthy breakfast.
Always start your travel days off with a good healthy breakfast. Some options that are good for your body and your teeth are; Porridge, Weetabix, fresh fruits, eggs, yogurt, and calcium-fortified cereal. Skipping breakfast will only make you feel more tired and less energetic so when you get to your destination you will be too tired to enjoy yourself.
Drink lots of water.
When travelling, make sure that you carry a bottle of water with you, especially when travelling. Water dilutes sugar you consume and flushes out bacteria, plus staying hydrated helps keep your immune system and energy levels strong. Its also helps wash away bits of food that are
Don't forget to take your toothbrush and stick to your dental routine
Its so easy to get carried away with all those parties, that you neglect your daily dental routine. So make sure that you brush your teeth twice a day as you normally should. It might be best to brush them when you get up before or after eating breakfast and before you go to bed. Eating sugar free gum is good for making your breath feel fresher if you are unable to clean your teeth but this shouldn't be an alternative, you still need to get to the bathroom to brush those teeth properly. When packing away your toothbrush, make sure that you dry it out and let it air as bacteria grows in wet toothbrushes. Other ways of keeping up good dental habits can include bringing a small mouthwash which is easy to pack away in your wash bag or try flossing as this is also light and easy to pack.
Find ways to relax.
When you finally arrive at your destination make sure you find time to chill out and relax and catch up on any sleep that you have missed. Lack of sleep can lead to weakening your immune system, overeating, affect your mood, and can cause accidents, especially when driving long distances. With just a little effort, you can get to your destination safely, healthy and ready to celebrate the holidays.
