'Message from Principle Dentist and Director of Bamboo Dental Dr Dan Rogers BDS MFDS RCS (Eng)
To all our patients... our family... at lunchtime Tuesday just gone we took the decision to close the practice to all patients. This of course was to prioritise your safety and the safety of our team not to mention the wider population.
As a profession we have received mandatory direction from the Chief Dental Officer for Wales, seconded by the British Dental Association, the General Dental Council and the Health Inspectorate of Wales to immediately stop the carrying out all routine dental treatments. There should now be a total embargo on the provision of all non-emergency dental care across the country.
We have also had direction to not treat any dental emergencies at the practice if it is likely that treatment will generate an aerosol, or see anyone who is high risk of mortality should they contract COVID-19 or anyone who is symptomatic or high risk of being in the asymptomatic phase.
Make no mistake we will all get through this so long as we work together and adhere to the government advice. We must protect one another so we protect our front line heath workers. The current crop of NHS workers will in time be remembered for their sacrifice to our country just as we remember those who have come before us risking so much for the safety of our loved ones.
So, if you are currently undergoing treatment with us please be patient, we are thinking about you and you are not forgotten. I would urge you only to request an emergency appointment if:
-You have severe dental pain not responding to over the counter pain killers. -You have facial swelling -You have suffered a traumatic incident affecting your teeth
To our Cosmetic Orthodontic patients: -If you have a loose or de-bonded bracket then please try to use the wax we gave you should the bracket be an irritation.
-If you have a loose bracket on a back tooth then please only get in touch if it is causing you extreme pain or causing the wire to give you extreme pain, (otherwise a bracket that has come off a back tooth and is not causing pain can safely be left until we see you in a few weeks).
-If a bracket has become loose on an upper front tooth (any of the upper front 4 teeth) and is not causing pain then please only request an appointment if you feel the tooth is moving in a strange direction ( you can always send us a photo to assess and we can give advice from there).
Our lines of communication remain open 8am to 4pm Monday to Friday whilst we are closed. Our out of hours overflow team are also open and able to take messages 24/7 to which we will respond asap. If you need us for anything please get in touch in the usual manner.
From Monday 30th March we will be offering virtual 'consultations' for any new patient who wishes to discuss improving their smile.
Currently we have committed to 4 weeks disruption but we are at the mercy of the governing bodies and they are at the mercy of this virus.
OVER THE PAST EIGHT YEARS WE HAVE TRANSFORMED THE SMILES OF OVER 12,000 NEW PATIENTS. ITS WHAT WE DO, ITS OUR THING, AND IT WILL ALWAYS BE OUR THING. THESE ARE TOUGH TIMES, BUT TOGETHER WE WILL GET THOUGH IT AND COME OUT SMILING. IF YOU NEED US FOR ANYTHING, PLEASE GET IN TOUCH. THANK YOU FOR BEING PART OF OUR FAMILY.
STAY SAFE.....STAY AT HOME....PROTECT OUR NHS.....KEEP YOUR CHIN UP.....AND KEEP SMILING X'
