Dental implants

What are dental implants?

We all want a perfect smile but damaged or missing teeth can get in the way. Dental implants look, act and feel like real teeth and work better than traditional dentures, plus no one will know that you’ve had a dental implant as we can create one to match the exact colour and size of your other teeth. You’ll be smiling again in no time.

Dental implants are tiny little things and look similar to a screw or bolt. They’re usually made from titanium which is super durable and helps keep your implant in place. We use Straumann Dental Implants which are world famous for their exceptional quality and SLActive Unique implant surface which gives you a shorter healing time.

How does it work?

Unfortunately, we are not taking on new patients for dental implants at the moment.

If you think dental implants could work for you, we’ll ask you to come in for a consultation with highly experienced and award winning dental surgeon, Dr Craig Mallorie, who will talk you through the options and check your suitability for implants. We might ask to take an X-Ray of your teeth, then if we think you’ll benefit from implants, we’ll book you in for another appointment.

In most cases, we’ll fit your dental implants under local anaesthetic, although we can use a sedative to help you feel more comfortable. Once we’ve fitted the implant to your gums, your tissue will start to heal and your jawbone will fuse with the implant to create a strong foundation for your replacement tooth. We’ll then book you in for a final procedure where we’ll fit your brand new tooth.
